I think it is a good product. it helped me fixing the problem and seal the leak. it can be used to seal any hole in the exhaust system.

This product works well for small holes (in my experience) however I had a little larger than average size intrusion so it did not hold up to well.

  3. Imported from AmazonSource context: This stuff did not remain flexible. It hardened and crumbled, clogging my catalytic converter. Spent an hour with a pick trying to get the gunk out of the cat's screen.

Good stuff, black, sticky and tar-like. I used this on the ball connection of a cat-back that was a bit worn out and leaking, sealed it up OK.

LOVE THIS STUFF. This stuff is so elusive but…I’ve tried just about every brick-and-mortar parts store exhaust compound out there…Nothing really works and/or stands up to the heat & pressure. I’m using this on slip-joint exhaust fittings. Dont be a dummy and think this will seal a rusted out hole in your exhaust pipe by slapping on some goop over dirty metal. Its not for that, learn to fix something right.I have found this has another purpose for exhaust pipes: corrosion inhibitor. I put this on all the weld spots that are starting to rust, the heat from the exhaust soon hardens this stuff into a glassy film and it seems to be working good.

Just installed my Walker exhaust on my Ford Ranger and because of the recommendations here I purchased this. I am glad I did honestly. My exhaust came with the standard u-clamps which is ok but this sealing compound is nice reassurance for a leak free exhaust.I thought this would be messy but it’s not. I did NOT use the little nozzle that came with it, rather I simply used the cap to punch the hole in the tube and then squeezed it out onto the ends of the exhaust pipe, then used my finger that was in a latex glove to spread around. Zero mess. If you use the nozzle then I would imagine it being messy. This does NOT patch holes. So don’t buy it thinking it will fix that, it won’t. I put this on the ends of the pipe that went into the other pipe connections via the muffler/or intermediate pipe.I turned my truck on and let it idle for about 5 minutes to get the exhaust pipes warm. Shut it off, then did the same thing about an hour later. Zero leaks. This entire tube should last me a life time with how often (not) I do exhausts of this type via a slip fit.I’d recommend this and glad I found it here, as it seems to be a hard to find item and most auto stores just give you a blank stare when asking about it. They give you exhaust cement which is not the same thing.

Works GREAT, a total exhaust leak problem solver. I used it in place of a gasket on a factory “flange joint” (mid-70’s driver’s side SBC manifold) and the joint is totally clean and leak free. I discovered on slip-fit joints that not only does it seal but it also acts as a lubricant and the pipes do not have to be fought with to achieve correct alignment during install – so nice! I have also smeared a little bit on the outside of a pipe that was cut to length and TIG welded back together, and the weld/repair has no rust or corrosion since (the pipes were powder-coated mild steel).

Great for sealing uneven surfaces, like corrosion. Not great for gaps or cracks because it stays wet until cooked. Don’t get it on you, unless you’re a diesel tech (then you don’t care), but its a bitch to get out of your pores without a solvent like parts washer.
