I received this FlyroadUp Bluetooth OBD2 scanner free from the Amazon Vine program in exchange for an honest review. I’ve used generic Bluetooth LE adapters and paid apps before, so I knew what to expect.I have had experience with the typical blue and similar devices in the past and previously used two of the common (at the time) paid apps to work with those.Test rig & apps used:- Vehicle 1: Kia Sportage (2018)- Vehicle 2: Dodge Grand Caravan (2015)- Phone: Google Pixel 7a (Android 15 – iOS compatibility not evaluated)- Apps: FlyroadUp official app; tried but couldn’t pair with Torque ProConnection:- First use: Bluetooth pairing failed for ~2 min, then succeeded when I launched the FlyroadUp app first (didn’t pair in android settings).- Subsequent uses: connects in Vehicle Diagnostic:- Functioned well on both vehicles and was quickly able to diagnose the check engine light. All the key sensor readings were there for me.- The required app is easy to navigate and had all the features I remember having in the paid apps, so I found it extremely easy to use.- Though I like the app, and am satisfied with it, I wanted to test if I could use the device with Torque Pro, a paid app that I had previously used. It would be nice to have the security of knowing it will be supported long term by a wider app-base.Form Factor & LEDs:- LEDs small and hard to see when installed. Most vehicles I’ve used these types of readers in, the OBD2 port faces straight down under the dash.- I really like the power button, though the placement of my OBD2 port doesn’t allow me to leave it plugged in for any length of time (or really drive with it). Size is where the smaller devices have an advantage.- The size and side indentations make it easy to install and remove from the OBD2 port though.Pros:- Diagnoses and clears check-engine lights- Displays real-time data with minimal lag- Reconnects in under 5 seconds- Power-button makes it easy to removeCons:- LEDs face downward—hard to see in many vehicles- Bulkier footprint can block footwell space- No support for third-party apps like Torque Pro

I have not had a code to clear yet, however, this scanner gives you more information about your vehicle than what the dashboard and computer module offer. Easily plugs right into your vehicle and after downloading the app, the module syncs with iphone in seconds giving you a lot of data. Very easy device to use and will save the trip to get code read in the future!

For the cost, this thing is a no-brainer. It works out of the box and it’s easy for even non-car people to get an idea of vehicle status without having to pay big bucks to a mechanic (and hope he ((or she)) is telling the truth).

Pros,Connected quickly, (plug it in to obd2, hit power button, turn on car, look under Bluetooth on phone for ad100) once you do that the device will connect.This works with many elm apps. The app they tell you to download worked well and wasn’t buggy.Never had the connection drop, and there was no noticeable lag.No subscriptions needed.ConsInstructions could have been better.All in all, Honestly a great first obd2 reader. This will not do the more advanced functions like brake release or throttle relearn, but that’s the point with these types of readers.Great to have laying around for when you need it.

The FlyroadUp OBD2 Scanner provides basic car information and diagnostics that are handy for beginners.It provides an easy-to-use setup: just plug it in and pair it with the app. The cell phone app (I used an iPhone) provides a decent layout and features to explore the various car sensor information for beginners like me. The app is quick and very responsive in real-time. Depending on the car it’s used with, the information may vary as some older cars either don’t provide the sensor data or the OBD2 Scanner doesn’t support it.After exploring all the different settings, there is one function to download the data to a PDF file. Unfortunately, it does not download all the data about the car. That’s too bad as I would have liked to look at all the data in a PDF on a large computer screen rather than having to scroll through all the various screens on a tiny iPhone. My feeling is that if the app can read all that information, it should be easily exported to a PDF file to make the user’s life a lot easier exploring the many settings. As it is, you need the car running to see all the data, which is not very effective or efficient. I’m taking my Lexus NX300h in for service shortly, and I would have liked to have a baseline of all the car’s settings to compare after the car has been serviced.There is no capability to change any of the car settings or reset diagnostic codes with the OBD2 Scanner; it’s read-only. This is probably advisable for beginners as I’m sure unless you know exactly what you are doing, you could do some damage to the car if not careful.I tested the OBD2 Scanner on 4 cars: 2015 Lexus NX300h, 1998 Lexus GS400, 2001 Audi S4, and 2015 Audi S4. It successfully read most of the codes from them. I did not have fault codes show up on the 4 cars as I did not have any issues with the cars.

This device includes a free, though simple app for displaying and clearing car diagnostic messages. The differences from similar devices are the on/off switch, which doesn’t seem necessary on similar devices, but may be needed due to the indicator lights. Unlike other devices, this one has a light to show it’s plugged in, and another to show the Bluetooth link status. The free app is pretty limited, however I haven’t tried to connect it to other more advanced (paid?) apps to see if more detailed information can be provided.

I’ve been really impressed with this OBD2 scanner. It connectedquickly to my phone (iPhone and Android both worked), and the app wassimple to set up and use. I really like that it has a powerbutton—makes it easy to leave plugged in without worrying aboutdraining the battery.It read and cleared error codes on my car with no issues. I’m not amechanic by any means, but it gave me a clear idea of what was wrong,and that alone saved me a trip to the shop. The app could use a fewmore features, but for the price, this thing does exactly what I need.Pros:*Easy Bluetooth connection*Power ON/OFF button is a smart touch*Reads and clears codes fast*Works well with both iPhone and AndroidCons:*The app is decent but kind of basic*Might not pick up every code on more advanced vehicles*Overall, I’m really happy with it, super convenient and a great value.

Being a bit nit picky, the OBD2 reader does it’s job….just not as well as it should. The first issue is that it uses a generic app, so it lacks in some direction. The app directions and the little slip of paper crammed in the box said 2 different set of steps. Using a combination of both was needed to get the device to connect to the app. Ah connection: issue #2. I’m not sure if the blue tooth antennae inside is severely limited, but I could only get the device to connect to my phone if I held my phone within 3 inches of the device. Otherwise it would say scanning, and then eventually error out.Once all the pieces of the puzzle were fit into place, it did give a good reading as far as my trucks diagnostics.

I ordered this OBD-II scanner hoping to quickly check and clear some previously resolved fault codes from my car’s ECU. It does a good job reading ECU codes accurately and providing real-time data while the engine is running, which is helpful for monitoring vehicle performance.What It Does Well:• Accurate Code Reading: Reads fault codes from the ECU reliably, allowing me to confirm that no new issues had appeared since my last mechanic visit.• Real-Time Data Monitoring: Provides near-real-time ECU readings, useful for live diagnostics or performance checks.Areas for Improvement:• Code Clearing Issues: Unfortunately, I haven’t had any success clearing codes with this device, meaning my check engine light remains on. I was trying to avoid disconnecting and reconnecting the battery to reset the ECU, but it seems this scanner can’t reliably clear codes.• Poor User Interface: The interface for looking up additional code information is awkward and poorly designed. Specifically, it shows how many codes it found. After tapping for more information, it shows an alphabetical index with white text on a white background—impossible to read clearly. Selecting any option finally brings you to the detailed fault list, creating unnecessary extra steps.Final Thoughts:Overall, this scanner has potential, but the user experience lacks polish, and its inability to reliably clear fault codes limits its usefulness significantly.It’s decent for basic diagnostics but needs significant improvements in usability and functionality.

The on off button is great. I can leave it in my truck. My old one, if I left it plugged in, would suck power. I did download the app and it works well. It paired the bluetooth device without issue and I cleared a knock sensor code in less than 30 seconds which is about 4 times faster than my old bluetooth scanner. Overall, no complaints.

I’ve always wanted an OBDII Reader of my own. Friends have had them, but I’ve never. Currently my car has no lights on the dash – knock on wood. So, I couldn’t check the error situation with this one – But, the reader connects to my 2010 Toyota easily and works just fine. The app is only okay. But, for the price this thing does the job and reads a lot more information than I originally would have thought! Nice to have the off / on switch, too, so you can leave it plugged in and turn it on or off as needed. A lot don’t have this feature! No trouble connecting it to my Android device via BlueTooth.

I hooked this up to my 2018 Impala that had a check engine light. After pairing it to my android phone, I could see exactly what the code was and was able to clear it. This easily saved me a trip to the shop that surely would have cost 4 times the amount just for the diagnostic. Will be keeping this in the glove box for the future. Paid for itself on the first use.
