Under hood hot air can heat soak the air going into your engine and rob your engine of horsepower. For this reason, Spectre has engineered these universal air intake systems for classic V6/V8 muscle car/pickup models with a GM throttle body injection assembly or carburetor with a 5-1/8 inch neck. These air intake systems use a low profile, 14 by 3 inch tall round air filter housing with dual inlets and a set of two flexible air intake ducts. To help block the hot under hood air the air filter housing is sealed and the two tubes can be routed to a location that will provide cooler outside air. In addition, we offer multiple angles of separation between the air filter housing inlets to allow for multiple configurations.

not as I liked due to air cleaner bottom is a different size than top. It has a bottom from some other kit for air filter to rest on. The top is poorly welded snorkels on to it , and its opening is 1/2 inch larger than bottom filter holder base. Does not seal so it draws air from right above intake thru this gap. I will have to make a gasket, use old cleaner bottom, and try different filters to see what will fit. More of a beginning to the process , but by no means what it looks like. Nor an end. Tube, couplings, clamps, and connection are nice other wise. If buying for a gift? NO. Its more like giving work to some one. But, nice thick steel product is a great start for project.

This is a good set up for a vintage or present Cold Air Intake, But…as I read from the other customer the bottom of the air cleaner is smaller and there as a bit round gap that will draw in hot air from the bottom of the filter, hence what’s the purpose of drawing hot air when you trying to achieve a cold air intake??, So I got hot air temp silicone glue and sealed the canister from the bottom , it also seals the air filter element inside but guess you don’t replace it too often. So perhaps a poor design in China??. Expected a better fitting air cleaner housing that SUPPOSED TO SEAL SO IT DRAWS COLD AIR FROM THE INTAKE TUBES OUTSIDE AIR ONLY, RIGHT???

The main chrome dual housing was out of round requiring careful handling to round it back out. OncecI got it back into shape I test fit the filter and drop base to the main housing. To my disgust I found the drop base doesn’t seal up to the main housing. This would let tons of hot engine bay air into it and negate the snorkels especially if you planned on using it as a quasi Ram Air setup I ended up using my old 14″ filter base and notching it to seat better against the snorkels. I used some self adhesive seals from Home Depot to storage the filter to seal to the lower base and to seal the main housing to the 14″ filter base. It’s now a factory style dual snorkel intake.

The main filter canister has chrome bubbling and is very crudely cut out and left with sharp edges . Just a poor design all around. The hoses and air intake mounts appear to be decent quality.I knew Amir who started Spectre back in the late 60s or early 70s and think he would be ashamed of this particular part.I feel it’s over priced for the poor quality.Bob Porter

Absolute junk, Jeff Bezos I hope your listening, this is by far the worst piece of kit I’ve ever bought as a ‘performance’ part. There is no seal from the base of the air cleaner, as others have said, it will let vast amounts of hot engine bay air into the engine as is. In order to work, properly as a cold air intake, it’s going to need a pile of rework to simply make it a sealed airbox for the snorkels to be able to do what they are supposed to, which is bring cold combustion air into the engine.I’m going to think about this for a few more minutes before I decide what to do, which as this pile of junk cost me over $500, should probably be return to sender.

Nice unit to make a ram air system for your ride. Chrome plating is a little wavy due to wavyness in the base metal. That’s why I didn’t give it 5 stars

There is a 3/8th gap all the around the perimeter of the base plate that doesn’t meet up with the cover and there by allows hot air directly to filter and into the carb. So it’s not a true cold air intake. To fix you need to buy door gap foam insulation tape to fill the gap! For the price I paid not really happy about this situation!

Worked out great, it was a little cold out when I assembled the flex tubes,Hard to twist but seated well.
