I bought this as a replacement to the same item that developed a leak in the side (after I backed over it once). Holds 4+ gallons of used oil or whatever fluid you’re draining, and although the pouring function could be better, it does what it’s supposed to – catches my draining oil and doesn’t overflow.

I saw a lot of people had the complaint that the spout cap leaks. My drain pain had a plastic burr on the spout that if you file off (make sure the end of the spout is flat and flush to create a flat mating surface) can completely eliminate the leakage. As soon as I received this item I put water in it and sure enough leaked a lot. Filed the burr off and not a drop after tightening the cap decently the first time smash the paper gasket to the taper in the cap. Hopefully the water didn’t shorten the life of. The paper gasket since has a wax like surface on it that it would take a while to penetrate and Any fluid getting to the edge of the paper is where the paper gasket is defenseless. Under normal circumstances it then that wouldn’t be a concern. But how hard would it be to make a new one from any kind old packaging or from something else. It really needs an oring or circular gasket. Hmmm, idea! If it’s a standard diameter then should be easy to pop an oring in there and have no problems. If you pull the paper gasket out and look how it’s made you’ll see what I mean and that the cap needs to be tightening decently the first time for the paper to conform the tapered ring. Otherwise, sturdy and American made and mostly low profile and a good price so no complaints here since a little ingenuity solves it’s only issue. And face it, for the people who complain about this stuff, it’s the cheapest drain pan of its kind with a cap on it so you get what you pay for and that’s usually how it goes. People should know by know that cheaper things usually have less engineering in them! Hopefully this helps some of you out. Now, I have work to do!

I borrowed one from a friend and loved it so much I had to have my own. This thing is awesome!! I like the edges on the sides (the inward facing lip that helps prevent spills when moving it) as well as the spout. Takes a bit more to clean the spout out but I don’t care because it works so well otherwise. Especially great for transmission fluid and coolant exchanges due to their large capacity of fluids.

Big enough for the 9L oil change of my Mercedes Gl450! The spout made it super easy to pour the old oil into the empty containers for safe transport/disposal.

I was looking for a pan that wasn’t going to be expensive, handle one to two oil changes and help me to avoid spilling oil everywhere when trying to put the used oil in the jug so that I can recycle it.For $10, I’m very happy with this product. It’s deep enough to capture oil splash and with a funnel the used oil can be easily placed back in the jug without creating a mess.No – the plastic is not as thick as a milk jug – it’s much thicker. Could it be even sturdier? Probably, but for 5-7 quarts, it’s adequate.

I didn’t have any issues with thinness of the item. It worked great. One thing I will say, and this is knit picky, the spout dripped when it was empty and stored. I would suggest storing it with something to catch the drips that come out of the spout when it’s in storage. Otherwise you will have a small puddle of oil under it. A suggestion for the people who designed this, angle the spout up so it doesn’t drip oil on the floor. That way any remnants left in the spout will drip back into the basin instead of on the floor. It’s the little things that make a product great. Hopefully my feedback helps. I do love how mess free it was draining my corvette oil into it. It was just the remnants in the spout that dripped.

So, it’s a pan. The only moving part is a cap on the drain spout. It cross threads and will not seal. It’s big, holds a lot of oil. Realize that once the oil is removed to another container, this pan must be cleaned. It takes forever.
