I’m really happy with the quality of this fuel cap. The fitment is perfect and operates really smoothly. Currently fitted to my 1992 GSX-R 1100 fuel tank.

So i purchased this for my 1991 Bandit 400 as I was tired of having to use the key to open the fuel fill. The key is old and I only have the one OEM and the lock assembly was starting to get stiff. I’d rather not break it off in there. It’s trivial as the bike is nearly 35 years old and this never posed a problem before. Here are some things I learned about this cap.-It does have a vent, you can see it in the stock images. It’s one-way and only to allow for compensation as fuel drops. Obviously designed for FI.It’s a bearing on a spring with a hole in the allen grub screw. Since it doesn’t compensate for expansion, you may have carb overfilling problems as the tank heats up: as the fuel expands it has nowhere to go. I remedied this by removing the grub screw, ball and spring so now it’s just a 1/16th hole VTA. I used a small piece of foam air filter to keep bits out and it’s located next to the drain so it should be similar to how the stock gas cap would overflow. I had to also open up the hole as it was a bit small. You can test all of this by just using your mouth on the assembly with the cap installed. The stock cap is a little fancier in venting, this product would be ideal if it vented two ways.Even if not for carb use, I would also recommend to remove the grub screw and loctite it anyway as it was literally not tight at all. Vibration would have rattled it loose. I attempted to loctite the grub screw holding the t-bar but it would not turn. I just loctited it over hoping that it would weep into the threads. This cap mounted up as the stock one did and I chose to use the stainless hardware from my stock cap. They include new hardware but it will most likely corrode as it’s just steel. The thousand dollar question is will the orings hold up to modern fuel? Only time will tell there and the OEM parts are holding strong in that regard.I wished the venting system was similar to some of the ones offered on the three bolt style caps but it’s not insurmountable. They have an o-ringed vent that matches up to the stock tank vent. If you are using this for a FI application, you may just get a hiss when you open the cap after a ride or when you fill up when the motorcycle has been sitting in the sun. If anything else changes, I’ll update over time but as simple of a job this has, I hope I won’t have to.Hope this helps.
