This product was the cheapest available and works after months of abuse. The original part failed because I installed an aftermarket tailgate reinforcement kit and forgot to add 1 piece.Since fixing the underlying problem this aftermarket tailgate hinge has not broken and continues to work as good as oem

I have a 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited. This was a perfect fit. It took me 1/2-hour to install because I had watched a YouTube video of the process. You need to know about the 10mm nut that’s holding the molding on to the Jeep. That time included getting out and putting away my tools.I noticed that the foot of the arm, the piece not connected to the tailgate, was packed with silicone grease. That’s probably why the one on my Jeep failed after six years; I never lubricated it. I looked in the manual, and there’s nothing specific about lubricating this part. My advice is to lubricate this with silicone grease annually.I will update this review IF the part fails as has happened to quite a few people. I seriously doubt it’s going to fail. It was an EXACT replica of the original. For those interested, two Jeep dealers wanted $170 and $220 for this part!!!!! And the crappy extended PORTFOLIO extended warranty we bought for $3000 was useless for this part. The warranty covers MECHANICAL parts, and this is a mechanical part in my opinion and that of the parts department and the service department at the dealership I took it to. Moss Bros. CDJR in Moreno Valley, CA charged me $231 to perform an inspection and call the insurance company. They sold us the Jeep and the extended warranty, yet they knew nothing about the warranty as far as I’m concerned. Needless to say, they will never see another penny of our business!

Seems to be exact OEM quality part, installed with no problems. Needed a torx bit for the 6 bolts. I think my original failed (after 6 years) because the 2 bolts connecting strut end to tailgate loosened up, causing the strut to twist and bind, then break. So I installed this new strut with medium strength (blue) loctite to avoid a repeat. No noise or rattles. Good value.

The OEM part failed as soon as I put on a 35″ spare. This replacement didn’t last long. It’s probably fine with a stock tire size.

I like the price, but you get what you pay for!Lasted 8 months!Surprised my lasted as long as it did with 35” spare on the back!At their mercy-got to buy another one.Easy to install.

Do not buy. The part is a piece of junk. It lasted 11 months before it failed. And it is not a vehicle that we drive often so we’re not using the tailgate often.

Everything checked out when I opened the box and removal of the original part and installing it was a piece of cake. Although, not sure if this particular part is defective. With a slow controlled opening and closing of the door to ensure proper installation and gliding of components, it closed perfectly well. When I opened it, again in a controlled manner, the door opened no problem and was smooth until it reached the end and should lock into place preventing the door to swing completely ajar, this did not happen at all. Heard a substantial pop and the hinge arm came out of the bracket inside the quarter panel. Upon inspection the plastic bit that retains the slide rod popped in half and that was just with slight pressure. Don’t recommend.
