I had bought a used 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe. After a few months, I started to smell a little gas inside of the truck when I filled the gas tank full. After a little while longer, gas would pour out the bottom of the truck when I filled it up all the way and then would smell gas until it was about 3/4 full.After much research and discovery, I found that the fuel pump lock cover was barely on. Evidently, someone had took it off at one point and didn’t lock it when it was put back on.Bought this tool and worked perfectly. However, if you ever have to use this, be prepared in case you have to use a lot of muscle for it. I didn’t realize it would be so tough to lock it back on. (Which may explain why whoever put the cover back on didn’t lock it.) Contrary to some advice I was given, there was no way that I could’ve ever used a screwdriver and hammer to pound it locked. I had to use a long beaker ratchet with an extra pipe at the end for leverage. I was afraid I would break something because I was pulling so hard. But, eventually, it snapped into the lock position. Now, no more leaks or smells.Definitely holding on to this for future use or to lend it to someone who’s at a loss of how to remove/tighten a fuel pump lock cover.

The LX Dodge/Chrysler vehicles have the fuel pump under the back seats on the right and left side. Thankfully, the engineers designed cut-outs in the floor so the pump can be serviced without having to drop the fuel tank. I had a leaky gasket and the tool was what I needed to remove the ring that sandwiches the gasket between the fuel tank and the fuel pump. The ring is TIGHT! The tool has an opening for a 1/2″ socket wrench. I could not budge the ring with the socket wrench so I went to my breaker bar. The breaker bar worked to remove the ring and re-install. The tool is well made and definitely worth the money.

Works great on a 2007 Nissan Sentra, equivalent to tool part Kent-Moore #J-45722 ($120-150). Always a good idea to grease up the lock ring for ease of removing and reinstalling it. Luckily, there was an access port to the fuel pump assembly through the back seat, so that I didn’t have to drop the tank. I did try the hammer and screw driver method but couldn’t get enough lateral force to pop the ring off, the angle was steep enough. A good idea to disconnect the battery. Remember to wrap up the fuel line, a clean latex glove works. And, thoroughly clean and dry the areas around the fuel pump to reduce the risk of debris falling into gas tank.With OTC brand you’ll always know that you’re getting a excellent quality product – very sturdy. Pretty good price, since all of the auto parts shop wanted to charge around $75-80 (on special order tool); and I am not an auto mechanic by trade.

1st of all, Amazon login sucks!! The CAPTCHA test that sometimes I have to do never works and just creates confusion in your login system. IT does NOTHING for added security! Morons!Now on to the wrench. This wrench worked perfect out of the box. I used this wrench on a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe. I had to replace both sending units.I hope you have a breaker bar or or something you can use for some leverage. That fuel ring is Gorilla tight!!!I was going to attempt this job without get this wrench but the more I though of it, I didn’t want the hassle of beating on it all afternoon. BUY the wrench, save yourself a headache.Replacing both sending units took me a little over 3 hours.Also check engine was on but I knew it was the sending units codes, after replacing units and all the wire/fuel connection back together, both fuel ring tight again, I start the engine and the check engine was still on. Turn the engine off, remove the battery cable (both) from the battery for maybe 5-6 minutes, then put them back on. Start the engine again, and check engine light is GONE and the fuel gage now works!!Hope this helps someone as a lot of these reviews and videos help me.

Box came destroyed but tool was fine. It worked perfect. I saw some of the tools had to be “modified” but this one i did not have to alter at all. It worked great with a breaker bar it removed the top of the tank ring with ease. Dont hesitate. Im sure this tool will last for years. Worth every penny as there is no way you could remove the ring without this and not cause damage. Used on a 06 Kia Sorento.

I used this product on a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe. It fit exactly like it was supposed and loosened the the fuel pump retaining ring the first time without any slipping while applying considerable force to loosen the ring. It also tightened the ring without any issues.

Great tool, well built. Invaluable when changing out fuel level sensors in a Santa Fe. Without it I have no idea how you would get the locking rings off without destroying them.

My ring was rusted on. I finally put my 3/4 in air impact on this tool and gave it full beans. The tool stood up to this abuse even though it recommends hand tools only, nothing bent , very impressive.

used this tool on a 2008 hyundai santa fe 3.3L to install the locking ring. Trying to used a screw driver and a hammer to lock the ring into place, the ring does not seat fully. Used the tool to twist the ring further to lock the ring fully into place. It took a lot of force to lock the ring fully, recommend this tool to prevent fuel vapors.

Had to use this tool a couple of times myself. My coworkers (automotive technicians), are always asking to borrow the tool when needed. It makes the job easier than using a large flat-head screwdriver and a large hammer!

Great material and seemed sturdy, but couldn’t use it. When it says universal, I’m not sure what that means – it was huge; like 4″ too big for my fuel pump so I didn’t use it and returned it. Thankful a hammer and flat head did the trick perfectly.
