You will need to spend the additional $39.99 for the BimmerLink app. The free software is not terribly helpful for much. Once I bought the Bimmerlink app it did exactly what I needed and was very intuitive. I had to replace the drive cables on the dual sunroof. Of course the actual work was not hard enough without a plethora of trouble codes. I also removed the seats to do a hot water extraction deep cleaning. The triggered error codes which came up for both seats every time I started the car. The Bimmerlink app showed me the trouble codes, identified them as one time codes that were stored. It said that basically the ECU saw this error once but does not see it now. It gave me a little more confidence in placing them in the trash can. Not sure if I did something wrong but I did have to delete the Restraint fault codes twice for some reason. I was afraid they were still being triggered and were going to keep come up. But the second time did the trick and the error codes are gone.The app also has quite an array of parameters it will read. Likely much more than your average owner will ever need. If you leave this unit plugged in, one you won’t have to remember where you left it when you need it, but also you only have to open the app and connect to quickly read any error codes.This tool is absolutely money well spend.

I bought this so that I could replace my rear brake pads with the electronic parking brake. I use BimmerLink for connection and had no issues at all. I do have to put my phone into airplane mode to connect to the adapter but then can turn off airplane mode right away. Works great for this model. I am able to view and record multiple sensors, service errors, and see CEL codes as well. Great purchase compared to paying a dealership to do the work.

It supports BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy), so it pairs effortlessly as soon as you get in the car, without draining the car’s battery.The connection is reliable, and it works seamlessly every time. This unit is awesome. I tried several units including a cable unit, all failed. Frist time connecting to the OBOLinkCX with our 2021 Mini GP was a breeze. We were able to make changes to accomodate our driving style without any problems. We highly recommend this unit, don’t waste your time or money on others. This is the only way to go if you are using the Bimmercode

I love this thing. It’s made mycar much more liveable. No more auto startstop at red lights, no more fake engine noise piped through the speakers, no more annoying chime with doors open while cleaning an listening to the radio (some tweaks depend on the car though). Thoroughly recommend
