Great price and super fast shipping, However, is listed here, and about 50% of other places online as fitting the 4 cylinder… IT DOES NOT!!!! The front header pipe is not long (high) enough to clear the oil pan on the 4 cylinder! Managed to save my front header pipe, and the convertor itself is a perfect fit to pipes and hangers, though still good for the price just for the convertor compared to what else I’ve found. Again, DOES NOT FIT 4 cylinder engines!!! Please remove on product description!

I just bought this kit for my ’98 TJ with the 4.0L engine to replace a messed up exhaust system that’s been bugging me for years. Initial impressions are good and I’m pleased with the apparent quality of this affordable part. The entire kit appears to be stainless steel with a large 2-1/2″ pipe running from the coupler into the connverter and the standard 2-1/4″ outlet from the converter which will mate up with aftermarket mufflers such as the Banks Monster muffler. The coupler flange isn’t a fixed rolled flange as shown in the rendered image. It’s a 3/8″ slip flange which isn’t an issue and may even be a plus but bolts aren’t included. The other thing I noticed is that the inlet and outlet tubes on the converter aren’t inline. It looks like the outlet is canted 5 degrees inward but that’s just an estimate. I’m not sure if this is by design or by accident but will know this weekend.I’ve had my Jeep for 16 years and about 12 years ago installed a Banks header and Banks muffler keeping the factory downpipe and catalytic converter. The problem I had was the union between the Banks header and Jeep downpipe. It never sealed well so I had an exhaust shop cut out the union and splice in a piece of tubing. Needless to say it didn’t go well and the leak has been there for years. Since I’m in the process of replacing the badly corroded original oil pan that has served me well, I need to remove the factory downpipe and figured that this is the perfect time to replace it along with the rear main seal, a new Banks header & Banks exhaust. I’ll update this review or make another review once I’ve completed the installation. So far so good though.

I got this for my 1999 jeep wrangler 4.0. The materials are nice. The flange that connects to the header is 2.25″ OD, after a few inches it changes to 2.5″. The inlet of the cat conv it 2.5″, and the exit is 2.25″. I used a simple adapter so I could use a 2.5″ muffler. The cat converter is smaller than stock, so it fits great. I even have a UCF ultra hi clearance skid plate, and there is plenty of room top and bottom.I did have one issue. The flange that connects to the header has the holes too far apart. I had to drill and grind to make them about 1/4″ closer together. Great product in general. Maybe other year jeeps have a different measurement on the flange bolts ?The bend around the oil pan was perfect and appears to match the stock pipe I removed. Clearance at front upper control is good too.

Ordered this for my 97 Tj 4.0. I was worried about the other reviews saying the head pipe had to be reamed out to make it fit, unfortunately I can’t verify that as mine was in great shape and I just used the cat. The install was simple, cut off old brackets pull exhaust out of hangers slide the cat off. If it’s a little fussy coerce with rubber mallet. So far it sounds great, a little throaty with my borla exhaust n performance def improved especially since the old one fell apart n I couldn’t go over 40. Would recommend the cat as far as whole thing I can’t verify.

Installed perfectly in my 98 Jeep TJ. Get some copper rtv for joints. Don’t do what I did and drop your skid plate. I thought it would make exhaust install easier but things got complicated. Shade tree mechanics should always watch a few videos first. First off check your exhaust manifold. Cracked exhaust manifolds are a common and inevitable issue with 98 TJs. My whole exhaust was shot so the telltale sounds of a cracked exhaust manifold was drowned out. I noticed this when I removed old cat pipe. What was a one day project turned into an exhaust manifold replacement. It sucked but I got manifold installed along with cat, cat pipe, muffler, etc. Everything even fit right into old exhaust hangers. At that point I was feeling quite proud of myself and all I needed to do was jack skid plate into place and throw in a few bolts. Out of 6 skid plate bolts only 2 would go in because my nutserts inside frame were junk! That was over a month ago. It sat in my driveway with blocks under it until I got the cash to order safety caps for both sides, pay a welder, wait for welder to have the time, and have it towed to the welder. It’s there now so final bill isn’t in yet. I’m glad I’m getting it done but that can of worms is probably gonna end up being around $1200. There are cheaper alternatives for replacing nutserts but that section of frame on TJs is susceptible to rot and mine was junk.
