    Hicktacular

I have a 2005 2500HD Silverado Crew Cab truck with a split driveshaft. The are notorious for a “bump” feeling when stopping and starting from the slip yoke, as the rear suspension flexes and works. I tried everything I could and was to the point of pricing a new driveshaft to rid my truck of the feeling of being rear-ended every time I stop and the driveshaft needs to shorten or lengthen. This stuff does the trick. It is a small bottle, only 8oz for a lot of money. It was cheaper than a new driveshaft and appears to be the only thing that helps so far. It is really thick and is the only grease that will work on something like this. I have had it on over a month now and no issues.

    Critic-at-Arms

There used to be a really great lubricant, known as Honda Moly 60, which was vital for lubricating such things as drive shaft splines.Moly 60 is out of production, but Loctite’s moly paste is actually BETTER.Molybdenum (aka “Molly-be-damned”) is found in a lot of types of grease. It provides lubrication that is less likely to be squeezed out or washed off — vitally important for linkages and splines which aren’t being constantly bathed in fresh oil. This is a PASTE, thick enough to stay even in high-pressure uses. With 65% moly (more than Moly 60), it is the go-to for motorcycle driveline work. Apply with the supplied brush, reassemble and you’re done.

First – this paste also goes by the name Loc-Tite LB8012; that’s what I received in the mail. I’m not a materials scientist. I’m not going to even pretend to know anything about it’s properties other than I was told by a veteran mechanic that this should be used in place of Honda M77. It also has a 60% or more moly content (it could be higher, check the data sheet). Apparently, there have been reports that M77 loses it’s lubricity and can cause extensive damage to the splines of a shaft driven motorcycle. For $50 and piece of mind – it was worth it to me. If you are garage mechanic, you will probably have enough of this stuff to last you a life time and accommodate any friends who ask you for “moly paste” (which should be close to never).Comes with a brush attached to the cap.

Moly paste is difficult to find in this day and age. I use it for cv joints and drive shafts. It also works well in the valve guides on my Super A Farmall, and my Gravely L series. A little goes a long way.

Claims 65% moly. Correct for HONDA spline lubrication. Must clean off ALL old grease. It worked well….it better for this price. Will revise reveiw at next tire change.

A bit pricey but this stuff is a true paste and once applied it stays put. A stiff brush for applying it is built into cap. The container contains what will likely be a lifetime supply of product for the DIY mechanic. Good for stuff like half shaft cv joints (vw super beetle), final drive shaft splines (Yamaha Virago shaft drive). Suggest you wear some old throwaway clothing and nitrile or latex gloves, this stuff turns up in the darndest places when used.

I used this as a replacement for the Honda lube paste that has changed in the recent years and is not the same formula.
