The unit I received appeared just as the older model originals. The engine I was working on (brother’s) was a fixed jet with no adjustments and plugged up from years of neglect. The purchased carb IS adjustable just as they used to always be.Location of the mounting holes for the bolt on shroud bracket and also the choke control lever were located / positioned correctly but be warned that the holes were not tapped. Fortunately I have a complete tap and die set in my shop. I don’t know if this is normal or a missed machining step on my particular unit.Another anomaly is the set up to run. I have always turned the air/fuel on bolt all the way in seated then backed out 1 to 1 1/4 turn (8 horse power blower). This new replacement carb runs with full power with the screw very nearly all the way in. It will not even run with the screw out 1 1/2 turns. It might be cracked open an 1/8 turn now. Doesnt’ seem normal to me but it runs well and threw heavy wet snow just as it should. For the money I could not have been more pleased. It does come with the mounting gasket too by the way.Not 5 stars because of the missing threads.RonRacine WI

Like other reviewers, I was all set to tear apart and clean the original carburetor on my HMSK90 snowblower engine to correct some hard starting and poor idling issues, and then found this replacement carb for an incredible price and decided to give it a whirl. Fit and finish appears to be very good, all adjustment screws operate well, and after a ten minute swap the blower fired up and ran like new on the third crank! As other reviewers have noted, the two holes for mounting the shroud bracket came un-tapped. Since the body is relatively soft aluminum, however, I was able to just use the original screws to tap the holes by force-threading them (gently but firmly) into the holes and back out, a bit at a time. Once that’s done, everything else just hooks up the same as the original carburetor. Too soon to tell about longevity of seals and whatnot, but this is appears to be a screaming deal.

Carburetor arrived on Sunday just at the end if a 12 inch snow storm. Kudos to Amazon shipping and USPS. I have a 28 inch Craftsman 9hp Tecumseh bought in 2007. This is the third carburetor on the snow thrower. The first was the non adjustable version which began surging after a few years. I replaced it with the same non adjustable style and it did the same after a few years. The snow thrower never sounded like it ran well since new, always backfiring a lot and running rough. This adjustable carb is amazing. It took about 30 to 40 minutes to change. This carb has non threaded holes for the bracket that the snow thrower carb shield mounts to. They were easily threaded in the aluminum with the existing OEM bolts by applying firm downward pressure. The snow thrower fired right up with factory carb settings and idled without backfiring. The only adjustment I have made is to open the fuel jet at the bottom 1/8 turn because the engine was stalling under extreme load. After stalling the snow thrower would fire right back up with two slight pumps of the fuel purge bulb and run great. I had to make 1/8 open adjustments 3 times over three hours. I have not fiddled with the mixture jet or the low idle setting.Actuall I did have to tighten the bowl nut because it was leaking fuel. Once tightened the fuel leak stoppedThis carb runs so much better than the no adjustable carbs. It’s like my 9hp went to an 11 hp. I don’t know what they were thinking by making a carb no adjustable. I am going to buy another of these adjustable carbs in case they are an older version that is in short supply.

Was skeptical about a $13 Chinese carb but worked great on my old 1980s 8hp Ariens snowblower with Tecumseh motor. Wish I would have known these carbs were available for this cheap last year. Spent the better part of a day last winter rebuilding the original carb and clearing the jets but still struggled with float issues and motor surging while running. This carb shipped fast, bolted right up, no threading issues. Fired up on first pull and just had to adjust the mixture screw on bottom of bowl to get it to run just right. This mixture screw is not on the original carb so this was a very nice added feature.Just used snowblower the other day and cleared about 6 driveways no problem. Threw the snow further than it ever did before :). Very happy.I would also recommend running ethanol free fuel as the ethanol quickly gums up the carb even if it is drained for storage. Also a good idea to install an inline fuel filter to prevent any debris from plugging the jets. The jets in these carbs are extremely small and it doesn’t take more than a grain of sand or dirt to plug it.

Bought this carburetor to replace the one on the original 8hp Tecumseh engine on my 35 year old snow blower, This carburetor is an exact replacement to the original carburetor so everything bolted and connected together very nicely. After installing the carburetor the engine started and ran very well on the first try. I am very impressed that I could buy this carburetor at such a low price for such an old engine and that a mounting gasket was also included. Our snow season has ended here in Minnesota so outside of test running the engine a few times for short periods I haven’t had the opportunity to do any snowdrift busting testing. I will state again that I feel this was a very smart purchase.
