Glowshift is hands down better than the other big brand I used. I was using an Autometer from their factory match line, and it was junk. I had to go through three sending units to get a good one, and the Autometer gauge had a sticky needle too. I had to tap on it to get a reading. Plus, it had screw down posts and blade terminals. I wanted something accurate and reliable, and Autometer wasn’t cutting it. I decided to try out the Glowshift. The Glowshift sending unit has a ground wire, so you don’t have to figure out how to get a good ground to the unit unlike the other brand. Just run the wires and plug in the gauge. The connector is great. No having to move this lug that way, this lug the other way, and hoping the blade terminals don’t pop off. And this thing is accurate. I can actually tell what the temp is, and not have to guess because of vague markings. The colors are nice, and match close enough to the OEM lighting. I use this in my 2012 Ram I tow with. A 2-1/16″ gauge can be press fit into the little cubby hole in the center panel. I used ABS plastic and made a bezel. I ran the wires through a small hole I drilled in the cubby hole. I press fit the bezel on the gauge, and then pressed the gauge into the hole. The only issue is the gear shift lever partially blocks the view when in gear, but I can live with that. The difference between the ‘black’ and ‘tinted’ is that the ‘tinted’ lens is dark to give a black out when the gauge is off, and the ‘black’ uses a clear lens.

Ignore the older negative reviews. I took a chance and am very happy with my purchase. If you follow the wiring instructions, and ground the sender properly, this gauge works great. The gauge also reads accurately, per my infrared temperature probe..The installation shown is on a 1996 Chevrolet P30 motor home chassis.

Installed in my Chevy g30 mini motor home. Required a 2” hole saw for dash cutout. Fit was perfect and hooked up per instructions. Love the brightness, did not hook up the dim wire. Used the pressure port on the tranny for the sensor. Install was straight forward with the instructions easy to follow. After a couple of weeks of use it seems to be working flawlessly. I installed this to follow the temp while towing. Gives me peace of mind on my older motor home.

This gauge is great, but the only place I had to mount it in my motor home was off center on right of dash and my transmission temperature falls on the 140 mark, which is just out of view from my seat without leaning over. It’s not a problem because you don’t look at it constantly. It’s a great addition to my motor home.

Color does not match my green gauge cluster very well, so I just have it set to white. The test port they tell you to install the sensor in isn’t really that accurate. The pan actually reads much cooler but unless you have an aftermarket pan there is obviously no bunghole for it. That said, once you watch your gauge enough you can get a relative idea whether you are ok, or you should back off the pedal a bit.

My 02′ Ford Ranger does not have a factory transmission temperature meter/gauge, and after having a radiator failure in the past and antifreeze & transmission fluid mixing in my transmission. I wanted to have piece of mind and know my transmission temperature. This little meter/gauge is so perfect. It’s bright and can color match my dashboard lights as well. This is definitely what fits my needs, thank you!!!!!
