Just installed this along with the adapter for my 2007 Mazda RX8. Easily installed and the clasp to secure the valve is well designed and sturdy. I have no concerns that it could accidentally open, the valve does not protrude lower than the underbody of the car. Well worth the money for hassle free oil changes.

A valve VS. a bolt… simple choice right? Other than the obvious positive outcomes of switching to this, the product itself is very well constructed. While I was poking a prodding at this valve trying to understand its operation I accidentally dismantled it and caught a good view of how it works. All of the junctions are tight and the valve ball moves smoothly from one position to the other. The small thumb lever that switches position of the valve is good and tight in its movements, but not too tight as to require an extensive amount of force to change. Installation was a breeze, and some of the other comments go into more detail concerning the procedure. This device eliminates the need to kick and knock and break loose your drain plug time after time. I looked into this valve after I took my car in for an oil change (for the last time) and they torqued the drain plug so tight that it took me 4 hours to remove it by hand. Never again I said. This valve saves about 10-15 minutes, and is worth every penny.

Folks I have used these valves on 4 vehicles for over 12 years, no leaks, no sweat, no hassle. So much easier than fooling with the drain plug which can round off or worse yet strip out in time. No tools needed to drain the oil, such a deal. I suppose in a doomsday scenario if a guy was driving the paris to dakaar or something ridiculous it could be damaged, but I’ve seen no such thing on trucks, broncos, etc. What the heck you can nock a hole in your oilpan too, so I dont’ worry about it any more. Bottom line the experiences I’ve had stretch over many years and several hundred thousand miles with these valves with no problems at all, no drips, leaks, nada………I have no qualms about recommending them. In fact I just ordered another one for a new Ford F-250 I just bought. Cheers and happy motoring !!!

This is one of the best investments if you change your own oil. I drive a lowered Acura RSX and it’s difficult doing any work on lowered vehicles. For my 2002 Acura RSX this fits great and the valve stem does not get in the way of the oil pan. I would do a little more research online to see if the valve will clear on your specific vehicle.Another concern people have is that the extra length could potentially hit the ground if you have a lowered vehicle. I have a pretty low car and it never, not once scrapped or touched the ground. Had it for 14 years and no problems. If you drive a sedan or suv, I would just buy the extra extender (they’re cheap) so you don’t have to worry about the valve possible hitting the oil pan.I would also recommend the version that “does not” have the nipple. Yea, it is nice to attach a hose and have it drain into whatever you want, but I will confirm that it drains a lot slower than the normal non nipple version.

Installed these valves on three of my personal vehicles with the oldest being in use for over 10 years. I have not had a leak or any failure with these valves. Fighting with a wrench under the vehicle is a thing of the past. Once installed you’ll only need your finger tips to drain the oil. The oil filter is the only messy part of the job.
The Critic –
I was originally sold on the idea of this product. Quality engineering and manufacture from Japan (I thought). I bought three of these valves and fitted them to three separate automobiles. They absolutely make changing your oil a far more simpler, efficient, experience. Unfortunately that’s where the enjoyment ends. I change my oil faithfully in these three automobiles at 7000 mile intervals. Each vehicle has a compartment that protects the oil pan from any road debris or possible interference with the valve or plug, when installed. I only mention this so that you understand that there’s nothing that could possibly be damaging the valves. They look as new as the day they were put on. I purchased my valve in 2016. It is now the end of 2018 and I have noticeable oil leakage coming from the circlip on the Fumoto valve that can be seen in the picture I’ve attached to this review. The Fumoto valve is constructed of a brass outer casing, an inner steel ball type valve with nylon seals. The valve is self-lubricated and also very easy to actuate. So far, only one of the valves has developed this leak, but that is one leak too many. I contacted Fumoto regarding my problem, sending them a picture of the leak and proof of purchase via a screenshot of my Amazon receipts. At first, Fumoto questioned the validity of my purchase, which I found irritating, yet we were able to resolve this. At first, their suggestion was that I mail back the leaking oil valve for their inspection and once received they would mail me a new valve. I explained to Fumoto’s customer service that this is unacceptable as it would cause me the need to do, two oil changes . One to remove the valve and second to replace the new valve. Customer service agreed that this was a foolish proposition and apologized, promising me that they would ship out a new valve to me immediately with a return label that I could use to mail the defective valve back. I agreed to this arrangement. apologies were made and I was told that shipping confirmation would be in my email box rapidly! Sadly, I begin this conversation with fumoto on December 1st 2018. It is now December 21st 2018 and I have still not received any shipping confirmation nor a new valve that I was promised would be “expedited” to me. I’ve gone back and forth with George at fumoto and I seem to be unable to get any resolve to my problem while my car consistently drips oil. At this point, it is clear to me that George and Fumoto have no respect for my time, money, or engine in my vehicle. I will no longer trust my vehicles to this device. I will be looking for a new solution, from a new company and considering my experience, I would urge you to do the same.

I have been buying this for all of my cars since I was teenage. THis makes my oil job much easier and less messy.
