Description

Review this item in the context of the repair, installation access, nearby parts, and the result the completed job is intended to achieve.

The original solenoids in multiple displacement systems (MDS) on certain Chrysler engines fail when their plastic housings become brittle from underhood heat and the oil passages become clogged by sludge. That failure causes a loss of power, rough idle and decreased fuel economy. Troubleshooting the symptoms of a failing MDS requires inspection of all four of the engine’s MDS solenoids, whose fragile housings often break during removal from the engine. This OE FIX MDS solenoid features a more durable aluminum housing and premium compression-tested O-rings to restore the system pressure required to deactivate the cylinder during MDS operation. This part is compatible with the following vehicles. Before purchasing, enter your vehicle trim in the garage tool to confirm fitment. I put in a cheap set and then replaced with these. They are better than OEM I believe.

I have a 2015 Ram 1500 with 148K miles. Removed the plastic MDS Sensors, because the engine was shifting into MDS early, and creating a “knock” and a vibration while in lower RPM’s while in MDS. If i turn MDS off, problem goes away. Also, when slowing down to a stop. The transmission says its in 1st gear, but when i let off the brake to accelerate, it DROPS into first. like a soft “clunk” into first gear.Replaced all 4 MDS sensors, Engine knock is GONE, Vibration is heavily reduced (your running on 4 cylinders… you’ll have a little bit of vibration under acceleration in MDS) and the 2-1 downshift issue is at an 80% success of removal. sometimes it does it, but before it was doing it 95% of the time. now, only 20%. and it may be less.Best $200 investment you’ll do on your HEMI. Please remember to buy intake manifold gaskets. don’t use the old ones. my intake valves were SUPER CLEAN, other then a little bit of fuel/oil stain on the walls. i wiped all that up. that simple clean, has improved alot.Watch a YouTube video on the steps on how to remove the air intake manifold cover. it isnt that difficult, but its tedious. make sure you follow the steps to make it easier for you.

Fit perfect, resolved check engine light issue.OEM part falls apart when removing if on a high mileage engine, so I used a drywall screw and vice grips to remove old unit. YouTube has videos on how to remove broken OEM units. The Hemi intake manifold isn’t too difficult to remove but I still would recommend replacing all units.Pamphlet in the box with part says an oil change is required, so plan on getting that done with the repair.
