Eric Dickey –
When I originally wrote my review, I said I would come back in 30 days to let everyone know how the part was working out for me. Well, 30 days turned into a little over 60 days, but the result is the same. This product works! My lights have not failed one time, the relays click when they are supposed to click and I am one very happy and satisfied customer.Again, this part is not fun to put in and required me to take out the LCM module to install, but I would certainly do it all over again with this part to fix the issue I had. If you are having the same kind of issues I was having with my Grand Marquis, then I recommend this part.(My original review is below my name)Eric DickeyI own a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis and this type of car is notorious for lighting control module issues. Normally the easiest fix is to take out the LCM, take it apart, desolder the bad relay, solder in a good relay and put the LCM back in and do it again when that relay burns out. Or you can spend close to a thousand dollars to take it to the repair place of your choice and buy a new LCM, have it pre-programmed to your car or have it programmed there, and then have a technician switch them out.Or you can use the Dorman 599-200 Lighting Control Repair Solution Module. To be honest, I had no idea this thing existed until I happened to stumble across it here on Amazon. I did a little research into it, read the reviews and decided to try it.0. My IssueI had no low beams on my 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis. I also had no side lights when I used my turn signals.1. Purchase and ShippingI actually purchased this first directly from Amazon, but later cancelled the order; when I first bought it, I was told shipping would take place in 2 to 5 business days (I am a Prime Member) and I was fine with that. When the day came to have the item shipped, I checked and it wasn’t shipped yet. I called and was told the shipping date would now be 2 to 5 WEEKS! I cancelled. Then I found the part with Express Media. It was an open box (meaning it was technically used) purchase, but it was in stock. I ordered it from them and had it in two days as promised. If you need one of these parts, then I recommend them. The shipping was great and the item was well protected.2. InstallationI am going to be very honest here. When you read the other reviews about how difficult it is to put this in, they are right. The LCM is in a very tight and awkward place under the dash and I am not a small guy. I am 6’2″, 228 and trying to fit my upper body in that tight space was not fun. All in all it took me about 35 minutes from start to finish. Now, I did have to take the LCM out of it’s place, but that was two 7MM bolts to undo. At first it looked like it wouldn’t fit in under the dash, but it did without an issue. Be advised that it did take a lot of force to put the connectors into the Dorman Module, and be sure to push until you hear them click into place. Once I had everything connected and the LCM into place and bolted back in, my lights worked like a charm.Overall impressions are:1. The item works so far.2. It is a pain in the butt to install!3. It is well worth the price to purchase and install yourself. If I can do it, anyone can!I will update this review in about a month; that way I can be honest and see how it is still working or not and let everyone know.

Update: It has been 2 years and it is still working. I’m satisfied!I have purchased a couple of Dorman electrical products. I waited a couple of weeks to write this review so I could absolutely say whether this part worked or not. It has worked for several weeks for me now. I am very happy with it.My car’s headlights would intermittently not work even though the yellow side driving lights would always come on. If the car sat unused, the headlights would work for a little while. But if I made a stop at a store and came back out and started the car, the headlights would fail to work. I would have to hold the temporary bright lights on to get the headlights to work so I could make it back home.I read about this kit and it had positive reviews. My mechanic installed it in minutes after I pointed out the directions to him. Unplug 3 plugs from the original LCM, attach the 3 plugs into the repair kit firmly, attach the repair module to the original light control module firmly, and the headlight system works again consistently like it is supposed to. This is a less expensive solution than buying the whole light control module for your 03 or 04 Mercury Marquis, Crown Vic, or Marauder. It comes with a printed instruction sheet which is simple to follow. Their are also a video on YouTube.[…]Apparently this is a common problem on this series of cars. Kudos to Dorman for making this repair kit and selling it cheaper than buying the whole new LCM. So far, I have been satisfied with Dorman’s products. I did buy the 3 year extended warranty Amazon offered just to be safe. it was only another 10 or 12 dollars. Ford’s LCM replacement is $250 – $300 and I don’t even know if they have fixed the original problem with their LCM’s. I paid just under $100 for this kit and the 3 year warranty and I know it is fixed. If you have the same problem with your 03-04 Marquis, Crown Vic, or Marauder, this is the solution.Update: 1 months later and it is still working great. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or buy another if I bought another car with the same issue.

This was a total waste of my money. I have a 2000 Crown Victoria that is having headlight issues. This unit was supposedly going to fix those issues. I had to wait several months for a mechanic to get to the installation of this unit so it was way past the time allotted to return the item. I lost my $98.00 and I have a worthless unit sitting on a shelf. When the unit was installed it caused the headlights to come on and STAY ON about a minute after locking the car. The lights would never go off and the first time I locked the car I went right into the house and did not know that the lights came on. It drained the battery so when I went to use the car it was a no-go. Then I discovered that this unit doesn’t fix anything. It merely turns on the lights and the lights will never go off.I wish I could give this unit a NEGATIVE star rating. I am fairly upset about throwing $98.00 down the drain on this unit.
