I installed this device in a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe LTZ with XM radio. The device was a simple plug-and-play, and I was streaming via the XM radio channel in just a few minutes! The pictures that came with the directions were tough to see, as they were printed in black and white, but the directions were otherwise very good. It really isn’t a difficult install, but good directions should always be expected. This was the best option for Bluetooth before having to replace the factory radio with an aftermarket radio, which can get very expensive with all the required adapters and things to maintain the factory functions, dual zone entertainment, etc. This is more expensive than other FM transmitter units, but I don’t have to worry about charging this device, or having it visible to potential thieves. The Bluetooth connects quickly when I start the car, and the volume is consistent with the FM channels, so I don’t have to turn down the volume before flipping over to FM radio. I do have to manually connect the Bluetooth when I use the remote start, but I can deal with that. I am very happy with this device, and it has worked exactly as advertised.

If you have a 9-3 from 07-12 with Sat Nav, this will work, only with SAT NAV. It’s an ok device, sometimes it doesn’t connect and I straight up have to turn off the car, doesn’t happen often enough but it’s enough to bug me. Sometimes it doesn’t connect automatically and it doesn’t take hands free calling since it doesn’t have a mic. It’s not the worst device ever and it’s definitely a very clean solution if you compare it to hanging a dongle from the AUX port. It’s kinda pricey for what it is but it’s still better than some of the other solutions out there. I’d recommend it if you don’t like wires, have XM and sat nav and you’re cool with it potentially being fussy. On the plus side, it’s very easy to install.

So overall it works as expected. But volume control is a bit odd. Not sure if its internal software on the device or if its the Crux. On my LG V40 it won’t allow it to get very loud at all after a few uses as if it self attenuates. While it will get louder when connected to my Samsung Note 20 it starts distorting over 60% of the phones bluetooth volume. UPDATE: It is now roughly a year since I purchased and installed this unit and now it just will not connect. I have written to the manufacturer via email about any possible solutions for this and have not gotten a response. While it is nice to have the bluetooth audio connectivity it would be even nicer if it continued to work.

I’ve used this unit in 3 different Saab 9-3’s, for some reason eventually in all 3 Saab’s the Crux interface stopped working with a notification that “BT off”. IDK why bluetooth turns off. What I did to get the unit working again was remove the negative battery cable for a 30 minutes, remove the CRUX interface and plug in the original factory cable. Then connect the negative battery cable again, turn the car on. Turn the car off, re-install the Crux interface and it began working again. Hope that helps someone, I saw no information posted anywhere else about fixing this.

This product should be taken off the market. I have had it for just over a year and it has spent more time not working than it has spent working. Every time I get into the vehicle, I have to go into my phone, forget the device in my bluetooth settings, and then rediscover it. Then, if I receive a phone call, I need to do the same thing after I hang up. Half the time I try to rediscover it, it does not appear or does not connect. Furthermore, when it is working, it continuously switches bands within the stereo from bluetooth to radio and then back to bluetooth. I called the company and the tech support person actually told me that the activity I was experiencing is normal. He then told me (under his breath) that he would not purchase this unit or recommend it to anybody.Backing up my timeline, roughly 6 months into owning the unit, I tried to get a replacement, but was told by the manufacturer that I would have to do so from the vendor instead of directly through the manufacturer. The distributor had disappeared from Amazon, so I had no recourse. Furthermore, my Assurion extended warranty would not cover the unit until the 1-year manufacturer warranty had expired.

Installed this in September 2023. Installation takes literally a couple of minutes. Sound quality was pretty good. BT connection was established easily. Initially it worked well. After a couple of months it stopped connecting to bluetooth and was stuck in “BT Off” mode. I found that unplugging the unit and plugging it back in would reset it and it would function again. This became more and more common until it eventually quit working at around 7 months of use. I need to add that all attempts to contact Crux for support went unanswered. At this point I would not recommend this product.
