Ordered this to repair a mangled exhaust stud hole in a 40 year old motorcycle I’m restoring. Straight-forward instructions and very easy to use. I did have some thread tapping compound which helped. The finished result was excellent. I do recommend making a guide to ensure you drill at the correct angle. Insert is very robust. All in all very pleased.

I used this kit to repair the rocker arm bolt threads on a 3.4l cylinder head. FIRST.. I used a 9/16 drill bit to widen the pedestal hole. Second used a piece of tape on a 25/64 drill bit taped it 7/8 of the way up the bit, so I would know how far to go down in the hole. I then drilled the hole. Third..I used a 13/32 reamer and reamed the hold. Fourth..I used the shoulder cutting tool provided in the kit and cut the shoulder in the hole. Fifth..I used the tap provided and a 9mm thin wall socket to tap the threads for the insert. Sixth…I cleaned the threads, and put some read thread loctite on the insert threads, and used the installer with oil on it to install the insert. It worked wonderful.

So bought this kit after a helicoil job went south. this fixed things right up and worked great!! Way better fix!

Worked wonderful. I had an exhaust stud on a Honda motorcycle that had enlarged the hole it was supposed to fit it. This kit enabled me to put this larger plug in that allowed me to thread the OEM stud in. Fanstastic

Fixed the problem from a shoddy helicoil that eventually failed. Much stronger connection and incredibly easy to use

This is an awesome kit. I used this setup to repair the rocker threads on an expensive set of aftermarket set of LSx heads. Someone previously used a helicoil and did a bad job. Set this up in the mill and drilled out all 8. Installed these BIG Serts. Worked perfectly. Also used Red Loctite on the inserts when I installed them, so they will never come out. Only on the inserts into the head, not on the actual bolts. The Drill bit, tap and countersink tool were very sharp and good quality. This will also work on standard GM LSx heads like 799, 243, 317, 706 etc. If the threads aren’t that bad, I’d recommend the TimeSert set first, vs the big sert. The reason is that the Big Serts are recommended as a 2nd repair, to fix a helicoil issue. Time serts for the 1st time. Most likely will not work on an LS7 8452 head as they have a different mounting setup/

This was expensive and the countersink tool broke a tooth when I was using it. That is my reason for less than 5 stars.I was able to get it to work anyway, and this kit really saved me some time and money because I didn’t have to pull my cylinder head out of my 2003 F150 when I replaced a badly corroded exhaust manifold.
