This fit my 1970 VW Beetle perfectly. I wanted the real Bosch part, but it was not available from my local parts store. I bought from Amazon for a great cost, and it was shipped very fast. Installed this voltage regulator yesterday. Voltage is stable. At 3000 rpm voltage is just over 13. Output is good no spikes or high readings. I have been using a different brand and have had to many problems with them. I will keep with Bosch brand. Generator is cool to the touch. If voltage gets to high generator will run hot. If to low battery voltage drops low. Output at generator 35 volts at battery 12.5 to 13 with this regulator.

I received the regulator quickly. The wires go exactly in the same place as the ones on the original Bosch mechanical regulator. It took me a while to install it because my regulator was over twenty years old and I could not see the labeling until I got it off and then realized that connections were in the same place. It gets hot at night to 130f in Florida, I don’t know if that is normal but I requested information on the normal operating temperatures. I installed it becomes I also installed a pointless new distributor and it provides a steady voltage. The combination works great so far.

1971 Super Beetle had erratic charging, bouncing from 11.2v to 12.8v, and draining the battery over several days. We first replaced the generator brushes, the lower brush is a pain, but still had erratic charging and generator light glowing. This regulator was a direct replacement for ours and took 30 mins to fit. Started the Beetle up and generator light finally went out. Driving down the road, we now get a very stable 13.5v+, even with headlights on. Great replacement part.

Using it on my Massey Ferguson 135 tractor, works very well with original generator. Keeps voltage around 13V on lower rpm, 14V on higher. D+ is generator’s “A”, DF is “F”, no need to connect indicator lamp unless you want it. Metal case is around +12V, so be careful not to touch it with ground (mass). Attached generic wiring diagram off the Internet.

My volt meter was hitting 16v so I unplugged the generator on my dune buggy and ran on my battery. I ordered the voltage regulator and installed it in 15 min. Back to normal voltage and no worries.

Great product. Swapping an older 60’s motor with a 12v generator into a newer 70’s beetle. This does the trick.
