As a mobile mechanic this is essential for me to have. Now for quick brake jobs I can set this up and not have to worry about dropping the customers car. It saves me time from having to set up Jack stands. And of course time is money. My only gripe is that it sits awkwardly (but still very secure) on a Harbor Freight 3 Ton Aluminum Jack due to the bottom axle being covered (see pictures). It also makes me look more professional to customers when I whip this rare product out. Quality seems fine but I do wonder how long the springs will last. This product is very compact. Overall if you’re a mobile mechanic you need this product…. It should pay for itself after a couple of brake jobs anyway.

This is a nicely made piece of heavy duty machinery and great invention. I did regret spending so much, but safety is priceless.

I am a mobile mechanic. We all know we’re supposed to use jack stands and not rely solely on the jack to hold the vehicle up. With that being said, we’re all guilty of doing it anyway. It can be a pain finding a spot to slip the jack stand it with the jack in place and sometimes we just get lazy. This is absolutely genius though and why it took this long for a product like this to be made is crazy!! This solves so many problems, especially for a mobile mechanic such as myself. The only thing that is a bit of a pain is that sometimes you have to either jack up the car higher or lower the jack a bit to get the holes to line up to stick the pin through. Not really a problem, but just something to be aware of. I was so excited to try this product and it works flawlessly. You feel safer, you’re not relying solely on the jack, you don’t have to find another spot to put the stand, and your jack doesn’t have to constantly take the weight, which also extends the life of the jack. Pure genius!! Also, if you get the extension thing from harbor frieght, where it screws onto the jack pad and the arms extend out allowing you to lift a whole side of a vehicle, the product is even more useful. No more finding a spot for a jack stand and this is easily one of my favorite products I’ve purchased this year!!!

using with my jack for extra protection

Jacking up a modern unibody car leaves very little room to place a Jack stand safely. Using this tool eliminates the need to place another safety device. I have taken too many risks and am extremely pleased with this device. It is very sturdy and has a safety pin to back up the adjustment ratchet. It is much easier to set up than an independent Jack stand, takes up less room under the vehicle and provides maximum protection. This is a must have safety tool !

I would say that it is a very good added safety feature for floor jack. The item looks well made and probably last a lifetime. When I use it with my floor jack, the floor jack has minimum height = 12 inch and maximum height = 17 inch. This is how to use it:1. Rise the car with floor jack2. Place jack rod into place under the floor jack, see picture3. Slowly lower the floor jack until it rests on the jack rod and then turn the handle on floor jack to lock up the floor jack.In this case, the car is supported by both jack rod and floor jack (floor jack is under lock position). It is quite expensive as a product. However, it is a good idea, so I think we pay for both product and good idea.

I stumbled on the Jack Rod XL when looking for a high lift jack for our lifted truck and Jeep. Tire rotations and brake jobs were a pain having to constantly move jack stands. Thanks for making maintenance safier, easier and less sketchy!

Works great, super easy to use and worth it if you can get a jack stand under your vehicle and have to rely on a jack. Is it kind of pricey? Yes. Is preventing serious injury or death worth that price? YES!!!

Brilliant idea, well made, just a shame it’s not directly available from Amazon UK at less cost.A lot easier than trying to fit axle stands. I often end up jacking higher than I really need and wasting time just to get an axle stand into a suitable solid weight bearing underside of a car. There are 4 or 5 versions available. Make sure you get the one that suites your trolly jack.Made of Aluminium. Made in the States, it’s a well designed bit of kit with nice welds.

Absolutely fantastic idea. saw this online a couple of years ago and always thought about getting one.just a great safety feature for any car jack… Especially if the job doesn’t warrant axle stands..
