I have a manual transmission, and when I’m in traffic or sit through a light, it will do a “gears skipped for fuel economy” thing and lock out the transmission forcing you to shift from 1 to 4. There is a couple things that will get around it – either run first gear out to a higher RPM, or shift to neutral and wait .5-1 second for the message to clear, both of which are mildly annoying. I got this hoping it would override that one line of code, and unfortunately, it doesn’t. I drive my car in performance mode, which changes several driving characteristics, so this device didn’t change my car at all. For reference, 2017 Chevy SS.

I used this on a 2007 Suburban with a V8 automatic trans. I just plugged it in, and it worked—no muss, no fuss. Otherwise, the seller advises unplugging the device when it is not in use to avoid battery drain.

Husband hated it. Said his truck ran better without it.

I used to feel like my engine was “slacking off” at times, especially during low-speed driving when the cylinder deactivation would kick in. With the AFM Disabler, the engine now works seamlessly in full-cylinder mode. The power delivery is smooth and linear, making driving far more enjoyable. Every acceleration and deceleration feels natural—what a difference!
