Cal-Van Tools Metric Dowell Pin Puller features a new dowel pin puller that extracts dowels without the use of a slide hammer. It fits the appropriate sized collet over the dowel and tightens the sleeve. It uses the outer sleeve and nut to extract the dowel. It can be used with an air ratchet, or traditional ratchet. The elimination of the slide hammer saves cost as well as effort and potential hand injury. The SAE set includes 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, and 1/2.

This works perfectly and easily as a dowell pin remover, BUT, the largest collet is not large enough for most pins. I had to return it. Please make larger collets for larger dowels and you have a winner.

For years I have struggled with dowel pins on my ATVs, Motorcycles, and Jetski’s. Not anymore! This tool enabled me to remove six pins within 5 minutes… pins I have been messing with for a while now. Some dowel pin tools are based off slide hammers, but not this one. You simply clamp the correct size collet to the pin and extract, its literally that easy! The only thing I dislike is that I purchased the tool for $148.00, then a couple days later it was listed for $135.00, but I guess that’s just bad timing. I would recommend this tool to anyone removing dowel pins!

I am working on a Porsche/VW engine and the new flywheel does not have the provision for the dowel pins so I was unable to bolt it up. I used the CalVan dowel pin puller and was able to remove the pins and now I can bolt up the flywheel. It took some work but the tool worked to perfection. The only nit that I would pick is that the outer sleeve does not have a way to hold on to it so when I tried to remove the pin the whole assembly would turn. So I just used some pliers to hold it.

CalVan is a good tool brand. This set seems to be good quality, but they shipped the wrong set. I ordered metric and they shipped me standard sizes. I will reorder now that I have received my return credit

This saved me a lot of headache. I had only 2mm to grab on a 6mm press fit pin. Collets have a proper heat treat and did not deform in the least. Expected the worst and was pleasantly surprised. I have plenty of work for this tool!
