They couldn’t be programmed for our Mercedes. Had to order the expensive one from locksmith. To late to send them back. Also don’t have package they came in.

I have two fobs that work but poorly, for 2008 GL 450. I opened up to look at my old one vs. these new ones we ordered. They are constructed differently inside. See the photo attached:- On left is one of the new key fobs, with blank key in front of it.- On right is the original fob, with cut key in front, but with its inner components out.There are two main parts inside the original fob:- To right of old fob is the circuit board part which I pulled out with some effort. I suggest not doing that.- To left of old fob is the important part. On the original fobs, the part that is easily removed to replace the batteries also has features that indicate this is the part that holds the programming. I thought I could move that over to the new fob, but they aren’t made the same so I cannot.I suspect the fobs I ordered will work just fine if I get them programmed and keys cut, but that’s expensive. I was looking for a compatible OUTER portion of the fob. Then I’d be able to have no additional cost for a better-working fob.I messaged the vendor who thought the design would allow this but it did not. When I informed them of that, they refunded my money right away. They were very courteous and helpful. But if you want to do what I was trying, this may not work — unless your fobs look more like theirs and less like mine.

Couldn’t get it programmed to my Mercedes, total waste of money. One of them came broken. I don’t recommend, just go to the Mercedes dealership to get a key. I should’ve done that myself.

This key obviously requires programming by a professional. It is impossible and unwise to build a key that would work with any Mercedes-Benz car straight out of the box. I’m just surprised that some people expected otherwise and left subpar review based on that.Unfortunately, it is difficult and costly to program MB keys. There are videos on YouTube on how to program these using Xtools devices. I can’t speak how safe it is to do the programming yourself. Once programmed, however, these works great! Feels very well built with a premium feel and weight to it. It is 10/10 recommended at this price. Absolutely love it!
