I bought this to upgrade my old 1984 Onan 8.0kW MDKD GenSet. It works AWESOME! The voltage has never been so steady! I need to readjust it to be 120V because I originally adjusted it when the GenSet was cold. This is a note…Let the GenSet warm up fully then dial in the no load voltage. It didn’t drop much, 3V AC which isn’t bad for a 120V GenSet…117V is well with in acceptable tolerance but I want the no load voltage to be perfect.I can’t wait to install the remote trimming potentiometer. This will allow me to make a +/- 10% from original set point adjustment from the boat’s power panel without changing the main adjustment. I like this idea. Probably not get used much, if at all, but having the option there is GREAT.It use to have an old transformer regulator and it worked great till the GenSet got overloaded because of a failure in the Air-Conditioning on my boat, it kept trying to start the compressor and would go in to thermal shutdown then cool off just enough to try again but every time it tried it drew more and more power because the compressor was hotter when it tried with out popping the circuit breaker, even though it’s the proper size, and then it just didn’t work any more. I was sleeping at anchor in August in Southern Florida and didn’t notice the change in Generator tone till it was too late…Was too tired and slept too soundly that night. Oh, well, it made me upgrade it to this awesome board that holds a tighter voltage then the original ever did!
