I am actually using them for roof shingles on bird feeders, they are pretty uniform in size, so easy to use, cost was good also.

These work really great. The house I just bought is about 25 years old & needed shims in the crawl space. It took a while to find hard wood which is much better than pine or other types of soft woods.
