Driver inserts were warped and so would not fit properly around the tube, nor inside the stanchion…my set was virtually unusable as is. Had the inserts been round, the weighted head had enough weight that it would work as intended. I returned mine.

As a mechanic, over the years I don’t know how many people I’ve taught how to take apart forks for service and repair. The nitrogen tank in the shop sort of gives it away, I guess. That said I’ve always tapped fork seals in with a plastic hammer and/or a plastic drift. Given this history I brought in this fork seal driver kit as a bit of a curiosity.The kit itself its self-explanatory. Each half of the die is self pinned together around the Staunton tube and the correct size of the two-part driver is selected. The half-drivers themselves do not fit together but are captured by the two-part die. With all four part properly selected and set up, a seal is easily driven into place. At first it looks like unnecessary fiddly, but in practice it is kinda cool.The kit covers 35-to 50mm forks with the drivers covering two sizes a set (see photos).

I like how the adaptors are organized with tube sizes clearly marked on them. It would be nice to see size marking on the case itself to correspond with the adaptors, but that is a minor issue. The plastic is non-marring to the fork tubes as far as I can tell, but I don’t have the usage in yet to see how it will hold up over time. The metal collar came generously oiled, which I like to offset corrosion, but it was a little excessive and needed to be wiped down… some of it pooled in the case and was able to spread a bit. My only major complaint is that I would have liked to see a clamp or strap included to hold the collars together while using. 4/5 stars.

I have multiple bikes that I fix myself so for me this is a godsend because I will use it more than once or twice. If you work on your own bike I would highly suggest this kit as it has multiple sizes so you don’t have to worry if you buy another bike about having the right size tool. Fork seals are bound to go bad at least once if you ride more than a year and if you are a daily rider, you will probably go through a few over the years. Operation is very simple and makes seating the new seals a lot easier. Anything that will make repairs easier for me as I get older I will gladly pay for.

Used this kit to install both seals on a pair of 48mm MC forks. Perfect for driving both seals, as well as ease the wipers into place. Kit accommodates a wide range of fork tube sizes, using interchangeable inserts. You do have to add a bit of lubrication to the inserts to get them to slide freely, but that was the only trick. Took minutes to install the seals, couldn’t be happier.

Gone are the days of putting in fork seals and having them not work. This kit makes it super easy to be accurate in putting in new fork seals. The kit comes with multiple sizes making it the perfect kit for almost any motorcycle fork size you can’t screw up putting the seal in with this kit, and it is virtually impossible to scratch the metal surface. If you are a do it yourself, mechanic, replacing the fork seals in your motorcycle, is super easy and failproof with this kid well worth the expense, and it will last you a lifetime.

I am an amateur, so while I knew I needed this tool, I had no idea how to use it really. I ended up watching some Youtube videos and figuring it out, but it would have been really nice for there to have been clear and concise directions included with the product.I have used them on 2 separate projects so far, and while the plastic bits where not an exact, to the mm, fit they work well without hurting the seals.
