Sprayed the interior of my 56 pickup. It is waaaaaayyyyy quieter and has a much higher quality ‘feel’ when you close the doors or go over bumps

I was very impressed with the Lizard Skin product line. I used this on a 80’s vintage 4Runner and it really took out the “tin can” hollow sound and deadened the resonance. Road noise was dramatically reduced, but not wholly eliminated – its still a 30 year old truck . I used in conjunction with the ceramic insulation. Not cheap, but since I did the prep work for one – I felt it was worth doing both – and it works. Using tin foil to cover awkward things like the steering wheel, shifters, electrical connections etc, works well. I did tape / paper off the dash and glass. I noticed the insulation was more prone to misting / over spray than the sound control – it sprayed heavy like a bed liner. The project calculator on the Lizard Skin website was helpful and accurate in figuring out how much I needed. There is also an order of operation. Sound Control first, Insulation second (I allowed a 48 hr. cure time in between). This project started when I wanted to upgrade to a modern sound system and put in a new carpet. I have no regrets going with the spray over the foil backed mat style.

I sprayed the Sound Control and Ceramic Coating in the cab area of my 86′ Toyota 4Runner.I used 2 gallons of each along with the applicator gun they sell. I started half way up my fire wall (because I didn’t want to remove my dash) and finished where the bed starts. I used all 2 gallons of the Sound, and had one gun hopper left over of the Ceramic.I removed the factory deadener using the dry ice and alcohol trick (worked Really well) and got a clean start. Lightly scuffed up everywhere I could and wiped out all the dust. The prep time took the longest to be honest, about 5+ hours by myself in 105 deg heat (not fun).Spray time was about 20 mins per coat and really easy to do. I did 2 coats of each and just followed the manufactures instructions.I did Dynamat in my last car and aside from prep, this was a lot more fun and I like the look of the end result better. As far as performance, the cab does sound a little quieter and the heat transfer seems to be less. This is an off road truck though so my main desire was to get the heat transfer down around the floor and overall sound less tingy which it seems to be doing that.I think with another 2 gallons I could do the side walls in the bed, front doors and hood to finish it out which I may do in the future. Maybe spray the headliner with the Ceramic. If you’re thinking of doing this, I highly recommend roping in a buddy or two to cut down on prep time!I give it 5 stars for now because it was super easy to apply, instructions were simple, customer service people I talked to were great, and the product is doing what I hoped for.

Getting the tinniness out of my classic truck is a priority and this product can get everywhere when sprayed. This liquid is very thick but sprays good when using a specialty gun. Easy water clean up makes it more pleasant to work with. Buy one with a large opening because filling the one offered has a bottle opening about 1.5″ which is way to small to quickly fill the bottle. After about 6-8 coats, my truck is noticeably more quiet inside and the doors sound like a high end modern car when closing. Of coarse that is something dependent on how well the inside of the door gets covered. This liguid will deaden sound if it get on the metal.

I used both the sound deadener and the ceramic insulation (thermal break). 2 coats of each. This product is NOT cheap. And having used hushmat and killmat before, I think they are better than the lizard skin spray. However, I also wanted the thermal break properties of the CI skin. And, that seems to work with about a 10 degree difference. So it is an effective thermal barrier. (I couldn’t find info on whether I could only use the CI, so I used both. It is particular about how to stir it, and its messy to use. I’ve painted cars before and this was rather messy with the pouring into the sprayer- cuz it’s on the thick side. Definately use an appropriate sprayer as it paints on like a milkshake. I added some hushmat and 3M insulation on top of the lizard skin and I’m happy with the results. I don’t recommend it as a stand alone product- but in conjunction with physical sound deadener, and insulation I think you’ll be happy with the results

Great stuff for sound deadening the inside of the car. Be sure to mask the area completely, you’d be surprised how far this travels Have also used as an undercoating.

It’s thick. Had to thin with water. Worked fantastic for this application. Washes off with water and a soap…well in the spray gun I had to use mineral spirits because my gun was a cheaper household Wagner.

Opened the container and it was already solid and in gel form. Would not mix up and was like cake mix. I ordered and received this in July and didn’t open until September 17th bit it had never been opened before. Mixed it up, well tried for 25-30 minutes. Wouldn’t brake loose to even pour into the gun. That’s a lot of money wasted.
