First of all, the description they have is all wrong. There’s no way this device will keep the cabin cooler, or keep rain out. Apparently the lister put a description of a window shade instead of a description for a hood protector. I hate it when people putting listings on amazon get careless about what they are doing – there’s too many mistakes made leading to inaccurate and/or misleading information, ultimately causing the headaches of having to return items back through the mail. What a hassle that is!Secondly – as the previous reviewer pointed out, (which I failed to notice when I purchased this thing) is the fact that this device doesn’t protrude up and away from the hood to keep small rocks, bugs, etc off the hood as typical hood protectors should do. It only protects the first few inches of the hood. It looks sharp (against the silver paint on my Venza), but I was hoping for (and thought it was) something a little more functional.I got this for my wife for Christmas. We had one on her Rav 4 and it was the typical bug/hood shield, made by the same company. This is why I assumed it was the same type. With the description being obviously wrong – and I hadn’t noticed the previous review, I didn’t notice this until I had it out of the box, and was placing it on the hood to get it ready to permanently tape onto the hood. I figured it wasn’t quite what I thought it was, but oh well, no big deal – it looks good, and I didn’t want to hassle with returning it, so I went ahead and mounted it. Sure enough, 3 weeks later – As a result, my guess is I can’t return it now. (I’m not even sure I can remove it without damaging the paint!)Another point to it’s lack of function as a hood protector. As Indicated, it only covers the paint on the first 2-3 inches of the hood. So, if it gets damaged by rocks what’s going to happen if it needs to be replaced? Again, I’m not sure I can get it off without damaging the paint. So, pardon the pun, but it looks like I’m stuck.If the description had said somehow that it was nothing more than a cosmetic item, and that it wasn’t a so-called “bug shield” as I thought it was, and that it seals to the hood (with no drainage by the way if water does get in there), And,I have to say,even though I knew at the time the description was wrong, shame on you, Amazon.com. This is your website, you should be having someone monitor these items descriptions to make sure they are accurate.

Fits great and easy to apply. Only concerns I have is with the 3M two-sided tape and how it may leave residue at this bug shield goes through it’s life cycle.

This is a flush mount protector, it does not stick up like the traditional bug guard. My Venza’s hood is getting a lot of chips from stones, but just on the very front. This is perfect and covers the exact area that needs protection. I didn’t want some goofy looking thing bolted onto the front. It is an easy install, took about 10 minutes.

Install was straightforward , just requires a bit of time to align everything up properly. Lays flat on the hood, permanently installs with 3M double sided tape. Comes with instructions, alcohol wipes and adhesive promoter.
