Installed on a 2002 Silverado with the 5.3L V8. Installation was easy with a 17mm hex bit; drain coolant from engine at radiator valve, remove existing brass plug in block near oil filter, install block heater, and route the power cable accordingly. Plugged into a timer to come on 4 hours before I set off in the morning and the truck starts no problem in the coldest weather, combined with the heated battery wrap. Don’t bother with the universal heaters that you have to hack pieces of the radiator hoses off to install – get this one.

Installed block heater back in December 2017 on my wife’s 2003 Chevrolet Z71 Suburban 180k. Install took about 40 minutes total. No longer experience long waits or rough idle starts on those brutally cold mornings. Kind of nice to feel heat from the vents so soon. I really believe this will extend the vehicles motor life and I wish I would’ve done it sooner.

Used it on a 2004 Chevy 2500HD Silverado LT 8.1 liter engine. First, make sure you have the correct tools – 17mm HEX driver 1/2″ drive to remove the brass plug from engine block. Next, the brass plug is located on the drivers side near the front of the engine. Use a long 1/2 extension (over 15 inches) to reach the plug. It’s very easy to get to once you find it… Remove all the coolant from the overflow and radiator. There will be a lot more coolant draining when you remove the plug. You will need a 26mm (or 1 1/16 in a pinch) wrench. Remove the front skid plate and you will have easy access from the front side. You can’t use a 26mm socket due to clearance issues with the frame.

Helps take the MN morning chill off! Install isn’t too bad, just be ready for a little coolant mess. The plug is really tight and would be easier to get to if you remove the front driveshaft.

Installed this on an LS Swapped 1990 K1500. Install was easy, and the heater replaced the freeze plug perfectly.

Good quality product. Easy to install and keeps my engine nice and toasty on those cold winter nights for easier starting in the morning with a lot less wear and tear on the battery and starter and also the fluids circulate more quickly when warm and the heater works quicker too. Works great !

Build quality on this product looks very nice. Thread sealer was pre applied to the threads which was a nice plus. The plug has a nice positive connection to the heater element. It has a long flat cord. Also: MADE IN USA!I installed mine on a 2002 4wd suburban 1500 with the 5.3 engine. The brass freeze plug is located on the driver’s side rear of the engine. The factory freeze plug requires a 17mm allen to remove. I used a 17mm allen socket 1/2″ drive with a breaker bar. It was pretty tight and took a bit to break loose. Installation required a 26mm socket. With a wobbly adapter and a long extension it was easy to remove the brass plug and install block heater. There was ample space. I pre drained the radiator but still had probably a gallon of antifreeze pour out of the freeze plug hole. Prepare for a mess.I’m happy with the quality of the product. I won’t know if it works until winter arrives.

I like the construction of this product. I plugged this into the wall before installing and hit it with a laser thermometer. It jumped up to 160 in less than a minute. It also held its heat for about 20 minutes before I could touch it. The connector take a little bit of alignment to connect but not much. Also, my favorite part, and why I purchased this over others, is the connector has a clip to keep it in place. This part mounts upside down so it was important to me that it have a retainer clip.Removal of the engine plug took some muscle and planning for coolant loss. Over all, this is s good product and I look forward to using it during the cold month.
